2017 State Championship Results

On Saturday, April 22, 2017, Kickstart Kids held the final tournament of the 2016-2017 school year’s competitive season, the 2017 “Fire Dragon” State Championship. The event was held at Wheeler Fieldhouse in Sugarland and featured over 600 student competitors.

Kickstart Kids students trained all year for the opportunity to compete at the state tournament. Students must have placed in a Kickstart Kids Qualifier Tournament and then again at their Kickstart Kids Regional Championship. Students’ friends and family traveled across the state to watch the competition and cheer on their students.

The event featured students from gold belt to black belt rank competing in kata, weapons, team demonstrations, team kata, and sparring. Top competitors took home championship belts, trophies, medals, and plaques.
