Heroes Among Us Gala & Auction Recap
What a night! On May 1st, 2015, KICKSTART KIDS held its “Heroes Among Us” Gala & Auction at River Oaks Country Club. Supporters from across the country visited Houston, Texas to celebrate the program, and help raise funds for future development. The event netted over $500,000 that will directly benefit the program and help expansion throughout the state of Texas.
This year’s gala included celebrities who spoke about the impact of KICKSTART KIDS on their lives and communities. Among the guests were Texas Governor, Greg Abbott and Marcus Luttrell, author of Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10. Co-chairs, Gena and Chuck Norris discussed the importance of the program and how grateful they are to have so many supporters.
The KICSKTART KIDS All-Star Demo Team, featuring top students from local schools, put on a passionate and patriotic performance. A special testimonial was given by Black Middle School student, Clarissa Derby, along with her instructor; Derrick Stinson, newly appointed Assistant Regional Manager for Southeast Texas.
We would like to thank our generous sponsors and in-kind donors for their invaluable support of the program. Their support allows us to bring our character development program to over 8,000 students a year in the state of Texas.
